BEER RUN OF THE WEEK: WILL PAIRING ANY OF THESE BEERS WITH OUR “I LOVE MICHELADAS” MIXES BE A DISASTER AS MASSIVE AS YOUR CHAOTIC RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR FIRST BABY MOMMA?

BEER RUN OF THE WEEK: WILL PAIRING ANY OF THESE BEERS WITH OUR “I LOVE MICHELADAS” MIXES BE A DISASTER AS MASSIVE AS YOUR CHAOTIC RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR FIRST BABY MOMMA?

Hello WELCOME BACK to the best blog space ever created since the invention of the internet, according to our very knowledgeable and wise “I Love Micheladas” team members!!!

Just in case you’re currently confused about the topic of this particular blog, we don’t blame you because it IS a very shocking title. Let me “copy and paste” a very important paragraph from our very first BEER RUN exercise about 2 weeks ago. It will make things a bit clearer.

THE “COPIED AND PASTED” VERY IMPORTANT PARAGRAPH:

We know that “time is money” and that you value your free time. With that idea in mind, we are starting this biweekly exercise, in which we select 3 random beers and we’ll let you know if they are perfect (or not) for micheladas! We want to save you time, money and effort by just letting you know what you should try and perhaps what beer you should avoid. We are not beer sommeliers nor are we experts of any kind… we just enjoy drinking micheladas especially if it’s for very important research purposes. We will do our best to keep it real and just provide honest feedback from our very own tasting experience.

Our apologies if that was your second time reading that paragraph because you had already read our very first BEER RUN that was published 2 weeks ago. That only means you follow our blog! Thank you. Okay, now that everyone is up-to-date with the purpose of this blog entry, let’s get started!

This time around, we sent our unexperienced and disoriented beer selector to Ramirez Beverage Center on Olympic Boulevard in Los Angeles, California. Once he found the actual place and got over the initial shock of how huge the store is……. he very slowly and meticulously selected 3 random beers. His picks were based on……. who the EFFFFF knows.

Okay so we know and understand that the 2020 Tokyo Olympics are over (there’s absolutely no need to contact us to let us know), but since everyone loves winning medals……. we decided to continue using the awarding of medals that we initially used to rank our beers. So, we gave the three beers either a gold medal, a silver medal or a bronze medal based on how well they tasted with our “I Love Micheladas” mix. Of course, a gold medal is the best, a silver medal is considered second place and a bronze medal would be third and last place. Calm down, a bronze medal isn’t completely horrible… it just means two other beers had a stronger bond with our michelada mix. With that said, these are the beer picks for this week and their respective medals:

 GOLD MEDAL WINNER

 TREJO’S CERVEZA

(4.7% ABV)

We’ve seen his movies. We’ve watched him perform as a Raccoon on The Masked Singer. We’ve consumed his donuts. We’ve devoured his tacos. We had yet to try his cerveza though. For that reason, we couldn’t wait to make our very own MACHETElada!! Lincoln Beer Company’s Trejo’s Cerveza is a refreshing Mexican craft light lager that’s made in the United States and it perfectly represents our beautiful city of Los Angeles. (You know the michelada creation is perfect when you forget that you’re only sampling and you unconsciously start chugging it all hoping that you’ll get a second serving.) We were extremely surprised at how crisp and smooth this lager felt with both our Red Miche Mix and our OG Brown Mix. With that said, we did notice that the spicy nature of the OG Brown Mix helped this beer fully stimulate our taste buds with its flavor. Without a doubt, this beer deserved the GOLD MEDAL! (Señor Trejo, CONGRATS on this very prestigious and priceless gold medal achievement! Please feel free to follow us on social media. LOL. Thank you.)

SILVER MEDAL WINNER

PARA MI GENTE MEXICAN LAGER

(5.2% ABV)

Para Mi Gente, an Indie Brewing Company and BeerThugLife collaboration, is a light lager made with organic blue maize that came in very close to snatching the gold medal from Trejo’s Cerveza. For starters, the design on the beer can demands attention. It’s impossible to not be intrigued by the Mexican coat of arms tribute portraying the eagle resting on a cactus while gripping beer cans in its beak and talons. This flavorful lager paired extremely well with both mixes, but there was no denying that it worked best with our tasty OG Brown Mix. For those that enjoy tasting the beer flavor on your michelada, then this beer is for you. This is a lager that did not disappoint with its rich flavor and therefore is very deserving of its SILVER MEDAL!

BRONZE MEDAL WINNER

MARIACHI MAESTRO

(6.2% ABV)

We must start off by stating that Mariachi Maestro is a very delicious tasting hazy IPA that not only refreshes us all, it also serves a very noble purpose for our community. This beer (a collaboration between Norwalk Brew House, HenHouse Brewing Co., SLO Brew and a few other SoCal breweries) was created to pay tribute to the late Orange County mariachi pioneer, Maestro Gabriel Zavala, as well as to raise funds for Rhythmo Mariachi Academy in Orange County in his honor.

The Mr. Zavala in a mariachi suit inspired artwork in this IPA is iconic and immediately captures the attention of whoever lays eyes on it. This must be one of the reasons as to why it was selected as one of the 3 beer picks this week. We concluded that this IPA was most likely not desgined to be part of a michelada since it has more a of an addicting bitter taste with hints of pineapple, orange, and even coconut. But it actually worked well with our OG Brown Mix!!! The spiciness of the mix balanced out the flavors in a unique manner. We are proud to present Mariachi Maestro and all of its positive vibes with a much deserved BRONZE MEDAL.

(PLEASE INSERT VERY LOUD CLAPPING AND OVER-THE-TOP CHEERING HERE FOR ALL THE MEDAL RECIPIENTS.)

To summarize, the three beers in this group tasted amazing on their own…. but EVEN BETTER when paired with our “I Love Micheladas” mixes. Selecting the right miche mix for you depends on the level of spiciness that you prefer on your miches. Go out and support these beer companies because they all successfully represent us!
